Product Information

The FlexSCADA FS-BME680 Air Environmental Sensor is a high-performance digital sensor that leverages the Bosch BME680 technology to deliver precise environmental measurements of gas, pressure, temperature, and humidity. With its advanced internal compensation algorithms and factory calibration, the FS-BME680 ensures accurate detection of a wide range of gases, including Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs), hydrogen, carbon monoxide, and other hazardous gases, in the parts per billion (ppb) range.

Designed for industrial use, the FS-BME680 excels in applications such as oil and gas telemetry, generator gas leak detection (propane, LPG, gasoline), battery hydrogen buildup monitoring, and fuel cell exhaust monitoring. It helps operators identify combustible and harmful gases long before they reach dangerous levels, enhancing safety for equipment and personnel.

The sensor can detect hazardous compounds like hydrogen, which is odorless and highly combustible; carbon monoxide, a toxic byproduct of fuel combustion; and benzene, formaldehyde, and styrene, all of which pose serious health risks. These compounds are commonly found in industrial settings, making the FS-BME680 a valuable tool for continuous environmental monitoring.

Key Specifications:

Humidity Accuracy: ±3%RH (0 – 100%RH)

Temperature Accuracy: ±0.5°C (-40°C to 85°C)

Pressure Accuracy: 0.12 Pa (equivalent to 1.7 cm) (300 – 1100 hPa)

Response Time: 3 seconds typical

Combustible Gas Detection: Detects almost all combustible gases before they reach the lower flammable limit (LFL) or upper explosive limit (UEL)

Gas Detection Range: Primarily in parts per billion (ppb), with some dropping into parts per million (ppm)

Installation Guidelines:

The FS-BME680 sensor should be installed by a qualified technician familiar with gas detection systems. Proper placement is essential: hydrogen sensors should be mounted near the ceiling, while carbon monoxide and propane sensors should be installed near the ground. The sensor mounts easily with a single screw and connects to the Flexs Q5 via a standard RJ45 Ethernet cable. For optimal performance, shielded RJ45 cabling is recommended, and the cable length should not exceed 10 feet.

Note: The FS-BME680 is intended as an aid for monitoring gases where certified sensors are not required. It should not be used as a replacement for certified gas detectors or regularly calibrated gas meters.
